Last week, Anita won £20,000 in a competition.

She decided to take everybody in her class ona tour of Europe.

The next day, she bought a minibus from a garage in First Avenue and told everybody to get in.

Geraldine was very angry because it was test day and eveybody missed the Module Three examination.

However, the students soon arrived at the ferry port in Newhaven and by 12 noon they were on their way to Dieppe in France.

The ferry crossing took nearly four hours and by 5 pm., French time, everybody was sitting in a cafe on the quayside in Dieppe.

Miyoko had invited Sergio on the trip. While the other students were drinking black coffee, she and Sergio went to visit the church of Notre Dame.

It was very dark inside. Miyoko held Sergio's hand. They sat for a quarter of an hour at the back of the church. Then they both lit a candle and returned to the cafe.

The other students were about to pay their bill, but they waited a little longer while Miyoko and Sergio drank a beer together.

Then suddenly they heard the noise of several fire engines. Anita wondered where they were going. Everybody was very curious so they got back into the minibus and followed them. Anita drove very fast.

Three minutes later, they caught up with the fire engines. They were parked several metres away from a burnt-out building.

Anita asked Miyoko if she could see the sign near the entrance, which was completely black.

Miyoko said that it was difficult to read, but he thought it was the church of Notre Dame which she and Sergio had visited a short while ago.

Just then, they heard the noise of several police cars.

Seon-Sook told the other students that she thought it was time to go. They all agreed that it was time to return to The English Language Centre.
